How long have you been a DJ/MC?
I have been in the Entertainment Industry for 30 years
Why do you enjoy being a DJ?
As A young adult, I had attended several sweet 16’s, and at one particular party, I had stood next to the DJ the entire time mesmerized as he mixed records. I thought that it was the coolest thing! That Christmas, I asked my parents for my 1st Technic 1200 turntable and started to acquire my music collection. Within the next 3 months I saved enough money to buy my second turntable and mixer, and began to learn the art of spinning music. By the time I was 18, my passion for DJing had turned into a drive and focus to become the best DJ on Long Island. I remember attending a bridal showcase with a friend to “spy” on a company called Long Island Sound DJ, to see what they were doing at their showcases. At the time, the owner of LI Sound (Joey), who is now a close friend, called me out and asked if I wanted a job working for LI Sound, so much for spying! Over time I transitioned from a DJ to and MC and found that the smiles and compliments I received was something that I really enjoyed. I felt it was my life’s goal to grow LI Sound into a company and did exactly that. A few short years later I became the owner and was able to build LI Sound to what it is today. When I grab the microphone, I take a moment to reflect on how far we have come, and it gives me the motivation to make sure everyone keeps smiling.
How would you describe your style as a MC?
MC is an abbreviation for “Master of Ceremony” and I try to reflect my style to that exact definition. I really embrace all type of events and present myself in the manner that my clients request. I believe I am a direct extension of the hosts. Creating a classy, fun atmosphere is the best way to describe how I approach all my events.
