How long have you been a DJ? :
I have been in the entertainment business for 15 years
Why do you enjoy being a DJ?
The first time I saw a DJ was at a family gathering when I was a boy, and I remember being mesmerized at how the mixing of music brought people together in joyful celebration. Soon after I expressed my interest in Djing, my parents bought me my first set of turntables and a mixer. As a teenager, I practically lived in the basement! I would practice every night and perform for my brothers and sister on the weekends, in hopes that one day I would get the opportunity to perform on a larger platform. My family gave me the courage to try out for a DJ company and I soon found myself mixing music and seeing people dancing. I truly enjoy the energy of a crowd and to see the huge smiles around the room as the last song of the night comes to an end, says it all.
How would you describe your style as a DJ?
Like most DJs, I started off as a technician on events overseeing all of the sound equipment. I was able to learn and pick up a lot of fundamentals from some of the Best DJ’s at Long Island Sound. I believe that those fundamentals help me fine tune my style. My style reflects my goal, which is to keep all generations on the dance floor the whole time. I love bouncing between genres every 10 to 15 minutes, keeping everyone dancing. I try to fuse my knowledge of music, with the request I’m presented, to make sure everyone is up on the dance floor.
